Award-winning ski film DESCENDANCE features some tantalising Hokkaido footage
There’s a lot to like about Descendance, a 35-minute film presented by The North Face, which follows the journey of freeride skier Dennis Ranalter and his struggles with identity.
“Descendance is Dennis’s story, a personal journey of self-exploration that examines his relationship with his own skin colour, with those closest to him and all those who share his love of skiing.”
The film features some especially tantalising scenes out of Southwest Hokkaido, with the deep powder that international audiences have come to expect from the island prefecture. Niseko-based photographer Aaron Jamieson was tasked with guiding the Legs of Steel film crew, and he absolutely delivered.
The film has subsequently been awarded Jury’s Pick at the Banff Mountain Film Festival.
