“More to Niseko than just pow”: here’s what makes Hokkaido special all year round
Submissions to this year’s Niseko Shootout Short Film Festival were highly entertaining, and if you have an hour and fifty-two minutes to spend watching them, we’d highly recommend it.
Alternatively, you can take less than five minutes to watch the submission from Niseko Photography and Guiding (from 7:18 above), which is packed full of Hokkaido goodness and is simply the perfect showcase for year-round outdoor adventure in the region. With the help of footage from Glen Claydon and Hokkaidowilds.org, they’ve featured everything from backcountry skiing, to whitewater rafting, to surfing, to summer festivals. And it’s all exquisitely captured and edited (like everything these guys do).
“This is Niseko 365, a film we made to showcase that there is more to Niseko than just pow (although that remains as good as ever)”, wrote the team in a post on Facebook.
The prospect of another incredible ski season coming to an end is always a tough pill to swallow, but this is a very timely reminder that there’s just as much to love about the seasons that follow.
