Travelling around Japan in a converted snowboard camper
Action sports photographer Ryan Butterfield takes us on road trip from Kyushu to Fukushima in search of deep powder.
We love the simplicity of packing everything into a van for a winter road trip, so this latest VANLIFE IN JAPAN series from Ryan Butterfield, owner of the Nozawa Onsen-based Mountain Swell Photography and Guiding, has definitely caught our eye.
Ryan has converted a used HiAce 200 DX 4WD Diesel into a snowboard camper and, in this episode takes viewers to the pint-sized Nekoma Ski Resort in Japan’s Fukushima prefecture. What the resort lacks in size it seems to well and truly make up for in snow quality – not unlike many other ski resorts in the Tohoku region.
