Kiroro announces plans to install new 878-metre gondola

Kiroro yesterday revealed plans to install an 878-metre combination lift, connecting The Kiroro, A Tribute Portfolio hotel with the existing mountain base and giving guests ski-in-ski-out access to the slopes. The lift will be equipped with an eight-person gondola for sightseeing and a four-person hooded chairlift for skiers and snowboarders.

The addition to the resort is part of a commitment by Thai owners Property Perfect to invest 100 billion yen (US$900 million) in Kiroro over the next decade. The company has already opened 11 restaurants and bars in the village, and will launch Yu Kiroro, a collection of freehold luxury residences, later this year.

Kiroro is located in the south east of Hokkaido and is widely regarded as one of the best powder skiing destinations in Japan.
