Uchi CEO Chris Pickering pulls together 10 ski real estate bargains from just US$30,000.

As Japan’s 2026 season winds down, Uchi CEO Chris Pickering rounds up 10 ski‑resort bargains, starting from just US$30,000 that could score you a foothold in some of the country’s best mountain towns.

This winter delivered exceptional snow thanks to a La Niña‑influenced pattern: mid‑January to mid‑February brought consistent 10–20cm daily top‑ups, Honshu saw 5–6m bases at peak resorts like Myoko, and Hokkaido enjoyed cold, light powder with bases regularly over three metres. Even in April, higher and larger resorts such as Niseko and Hakuba retained deep snowpack, while lower‑elevation areas began to close.

“To see a winter like this is special, the big dumps felt endless,” says Chris. “I still get that giddy feeling like I’ve won the lottery when everything turns white. Beyond the multi‑million‑dollar listings, it’s incredibly satisfying to find entry‑level plots and cabins that let a young family or first‑time buyer break into Japan’s ski scene… especially with the yen where it is.”
