Japan Airlines is celebrating two years flying between Melbourne and Tokyo by giving away 30 limited edition "Boarding Pass" snowboards.

It’s been two years since Japan Airlines launched direct flights between Melbourne and Tokyo, and they’ve decided to mark the occasion with a promotion that will make snowboarders very excited. A lucky 30 travellers who book business class flights on the route between will be able to claim a custom “boarding pass” snowboard – designed in collaboration with Burton. There’s a March 22 deadline on the promotion, however boards will be released on a first-come first-served basis, so they may not last long.

The “boarding pass” boards are from Burton’s 2020 Family Tree range, and have been designed (as the name suggests) to look like a boarding pass, customised with the passenger’s name and flight date.

Flight tickets must be purchased on the Japan Airlines Australian website, and there is no limitation on the dates of travel.

Japan Airlines general manager for Australia and New Zealand Mark Lucas said they the company “wanted to continue showcasing exciting ways to enjoy the best of Japan, and in this case, the country’s stunning snow region on a limited-edition Boarding Pass.”

How to claim your “Boarding Pass” snowboard

  1. Reserve your limited edition “boarding pass” board at japanairlinesboardingpass.com.au. There are limited sizes available; fill in your details and the site will let you know if there are any suitable boards remaining.
  2. Once you’ve received an email confirming your reservation, head to the Japan Airlines website and book a return trip from Melbourne to Tokyo with Japan Airlines, flying business class, between February 19 and March 22. The board will be held for 24 hours while you complete this step.
  3. After booking your flight, return to japanairlinesboardingpass.com.au and add your flight reference number to the reservation before the 24-hour deadline expires.
  4. Collect your board from Melbourne’s Auski Store between March 30 – April 13, 2020.
