It’s been another cracking season in Hakuba and virtually every other ski resort in Japan, though sadly border closures have meant that many have been getting their powder fix from videos posted online. Tony from Hakuba’s White Horse Hotel is a serial powder day poster, and his Facebook page is one of the best to follow for up-to-date reports on the resort and local tips.

The video above is one of his best. In his own words:

“I have just ripped up 10 powder days in a row here in Hakuba, Japan. What do I class as a powder day. Well my definition is when you don’t touch the base when you are skiing or riding. Generally around 30cm of snow will put you in that zone and give you that floating feeling. We dropped into Tsuga Base for a well deserved beer. A great little bar café at the base of the Tsugaike Gondola with a good selection of drinks and food and good tunes playing. The perfect spot to wait for your bus and grab some refreshments.

“We dropped some more backcountry lines but as always take extreme caution when contemplating skiing and snowboarding off resort.”
